Captains June Newsletter.
Yet another month goes by and still no sign of normality, hopefully the next few weeks will bring encouraging news for us all. For those that are still struggling in these times our thoughts continue to be with you.
The course is looking really good and it’s being well used by members and guests alike with the odd bit of sunshine helping the cause. Sid and Wallace continue to do a wonderful job and the greens are getting towards their best.
We have our ‘Gents Open’ next Sunday (13th) and I would encourage all members who are able to take part to do so. It would be great to see a SGC member taking the top prize.
We will also be showing the Euro 2021 Scotland v England game on Friday 18th June 7.30pm, with free half pies, sponsored by Duncan Mackenzie Craft Butchers, so please try to come along.
There have been a few small changes to dates on the calendar, primarily to allow a better attendance on the course and in the Clubhouse. Please keep an eye on the fixture list. One weekend I would like to mention is the ‘fundraising weekend on 26th/27th June. This is our chance to raise some funds for the club and enjoy the company of one another on and off the course. We hope to have Quiz on the Saturday night and we will have various other events taking place like the Presidents Cup, a BBQ, raffles, activities for the Juniors and prizes on offer.
Again, I would ask for your support at some point in the weekend. If anyone would like to donate a prize for upcoming raffles it would be gratefully received.
Our catering arrangements have been a bit hit and miss since the reopening of the Clubhouse but I am confident that our latest addition to our golfing family will help to change this. We would like to welcome ‘Shore Shack’ to the club and let all members know that Danny and the gang will be providing food at the weekends and social events commencing Saturday coming. Shore Shack are about to open their new premises at Pearson’s Garage and the Club would like to wish them the best of luck in their new locus.
Our finances remain in a relatively good state mainly due to the continued influx of new members and the success of the Joker. Somebody must win it soon surely.
We have a few purchases that we will make to continue the improvements of the Club that I’m sure you will see are necessary for our continued development.
We still need, so I will still ask, if there is anyone who could help us with the secretarial role within the Committee. This role is primarily one of membership enrollment and process. At this time of year this is not as onerous as it may sound and I’m sure there is someone who could help. If so, please speak to anyone on the Committee, thank you.
Speak to you all soon, take care.
