We are still in Phase 3 of lockdown and whilst there has been a welcome easing of restrictions with Coronavirus not as prevalent, we should remember that it is still out there, and recent events have shown that cases are on the increase. Therefore, we need to follow the guidance previously issued by the Club and any new guidance that is issued in order to ensure you and your fellow Golfers remain fit and healthy.
The Golf Course
The course remains in good condition and with growth levels remaining high, it’s sometimes difficult to keep up. The Greens Staff have identified a thatch build up on some of our greens and discussions have taken place on the action needed to bring this under control.
Both Sid and Wallace have asked me to pass on their thanks to members for the donation of £360 recently received.
Club Championship Week
We recently had a very successful Championship week sponsored by Reid Mackellar Opticians and I would like to thank the company for their continued sponsorship of Skelmorlie Golf Club. Special thanks go to Campbell Mackellar for presenting the prizes at our socially distanced prize giving.
Gents Championship Winner John R. Anderson Runner-Up Jim Anderson
Ladies Championship Winner Alex Sargent Runner-Up Gillian Pollock
Gents Seniors Championship Winner Ian MacDonald Runner-Up Frank Sime
Ladies Bronze Championship Winner Alyson Hutton Runner-Up Sophie Love
Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to all of those who took part.
The Scottish Golf App
It’s important that you continue using the App to pre-book your games, as playing records have to be kept for six weeks and be available to the Scottish Government as part of their Track and Trace policy. Failure to do this risks the Course having to close.
Anyone still experiencing difficulties with the App is asked to contact firstname.lastname@example.org
On the Scottish Golf News section of the app there are details of how to access a webinar on the new World Handicap system and I would recommend it to you.
Three Month Memberships
The Club has contacted all of those who joined us on a three-month membership basis and offered discounted membership to remain with us until the 28th February 2021. To date we have had 11 responses with 9 members taking us up on the offer.
The amount raised in donations now stands at £9,180.90 with thanks to those who regularly donate.
Colin McAuslan is still selling golf balls for Club funds and has now raised £1,885.77. Thank you, Colin.
The Joker Fundraiser
For Information, we are currently looking at ways of continuing with the Joker draw as a fundraiser and will keep you updated.
Electricity Upgrade Thursday 17th September
Please note on the above date work will be ongoing to renew the electrical supply to the Clubhouse. As a consequence, there may be a one-way system operating on the access road.
Captain, Skelmorlie Golf Club.
